Weymouth Club Family Membership Price

Well life in the Arctic is proving to be much more fun and active than I expected at first, especially now in the winter because I imagine that when there is 30 degrees below zero with a wind chill of 40 by the wind and snow flying everywhere, no one would have no desire or energy to make any outdoor activity. But as has happened on several occasions, I was wrong, and if you know the right people not only you got the opportunity to perform various activities in and outside but the vast majority can reach be 100% free! And we all know how much I like that word jijijiji. WORK

But first the boring work. In coffee everything is going nice, thank God that moved and people are happy. Every morning we make about 100 sandwiches that sell for $ 9.25, and I know that sounds expensive but the food prices in Inuvik are a bit exorbitant, especially when the route is closed because they are either building the path of ice or waiting to melt, because when that happens, the food prices going up, especially things like fruits, vegetables and milk must come by air, such as a lettuce can cost $ 8.00 or more, 2 kg of carrots $ 7.00, 2 liters of milk $ 9.50, 1 kg of cheese $ 25.00. So what we charge for our sandwiches or other products is not so much in relation to what our costs. We also sell cookies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, breads (that everyone congratulated me because here there is not really a bakery jjijijij) coffee and much, much, much more elaborate filter and only because we the people cappuccino machine. While we have the same problem I've had in all the jobs I've had here in Canada, the staff sucks !!!!! Anyway we are working to improve that part, not because they are so bad but there is not much room for improvement. But for now is good because I'm doing what I want when I want and how I want and Debbie tells me nothing jijijiji. So if all goes as so far I think a few months left to enjoy the arctic to the full and to make me some capital to continue the journey to the truth I'm finding much more expensive than originally planned.

And now the fun part, cold but fun ....

DOG SLED

Thanks to the people of the coffee was to ride a dog sled. An activity that today is almost extinct as part of daily life for the people but which is a great attraction for tourists and some fans do it for fun.

This technical issue was with coffee machines, Steve, whom we dubbed "coffee machine guy" (man from the coffee machines) and that he is in Calgary and wanted to experience the north. So we went to a hotel called Arctic Chalet, which is run by a very nice couple, and have very few staff and volunteers to handle dogs and rooms, as they have like 40 dogs who give their work, in addition to must maintain the rooms, the ways dogs and do the same to keep the place operating. As crazy with all that the owner of the place grew in Montevideo, Uruguay until the age of 12 years and still goes to visit from time to time and even has a wall in the hotel where they have things in Uruguay, also she is German, I think, and why
grew
Uruguay is because his father is a senior in the Adventist Church.

With Mo, my boss, it is noteworthy that the two are standing, if the veteran is very petite jijijij

Well let the action, after an hour of instructions and explanations how to stop or slow down or all the precautions to be taken not to overturn or so dogs do not fight or turn right or left, and many other important things to avoid damaging the equipment or injure dogs. It is also good because they gave us clothes for everything seem more authentic.

And there we go, starting all quiet, dogs with great force and wanted to run, and is the principle that you got the opportunity to make your dog turn left or right, by inertia dogs tend to go straight but if you apply the brakes just enough to slow down Chi running and screaming (to turn right) and Cha (to turn left) at the various intersections that are on the roads that are marked on the frozen lake you manage to change lanes, which is more complicated than it sounds, but not impossible, it took me a couple of tries but I managed to make a couple of turns but turned out pretty well. Because these dogs are not bred to run are not going very fast but they are very strong and even with the brake fully beware because if you're not careful you start and stop jjijijij ass in the snow. The other interesting fact is that when you try to bend and dogs do not want to hear what punishment is used as the brake, because it gave us jjijijij whips, because what the dogs want is to run and go fast, but if you stop all they know they did something wrong, which I found quite interesting.

And now if we go ... ..

All dogs my sled

Hanging out with the sleds

And so we as an hour to approximately 9 km of journey, with ups and downs and some half dangerous curves, some more than others and that all falling from novice end of the sleds, but nobody lost dogs. Since one of the recommendations they gave us was that if we felt that we would not wear down the sled dogs with us so were not without us. My problem was that when I was falling, to try to stop for a curve that was steeper than I had originally thought, I'm clinging to the sled but it takes me I fall and that's uglier than a pine tree coming straight at me head so I said go and snap dog sled and pull me in the snow just before the tree, but the jolt pickup because I gave the sled when the anchor broke loose and anchored to the sled so when willing to take me up to see dogs that were there "waiting" jijijiji. The detail was that I had been given two pairs of mittens, a normal size and the other as seen in the pictures a little biggie, but when I buried in the snow mittens lost big in the rush to grab the dogs and me and realized I just realized as 500 meters when we stopped to take pictures, thank god we came back Louise, a girl from Ireland, and raise the mototrieno mittens for me, she was in the rear in case someone fell or anything that might happen.

With Nanuk on a break, no, I'm not choking

I think the photos speak for themselves ....

Saving Alka

The journey lasted 2 hours enter the training and travel and cost $ 125 plus $ 20 for the pictures because we were not allowed to take photos during the trip because they wanted that we handle the sled with one hand, and to do a little more than jijiji silver. But the fact that the experience was worth it.

MOTO SLED

Another activity that is very good is exit mototrieno, although a little more dangerous in my case because as everyone knows I'm not a great driver jjijijij, but both times they leave and come unscathed although there is a risk that goes beyond the ability to manage, and cold as it is quite common that you freeze the fingers or toes or nose or cheek if you do not have care and how much cold is a matter of seconds which is more dangerous still, because it hurts a little but then do not feel anything anymore not that you have passed the cold but will freeze while lost all sensitivity, I freeze the nose twice and the second time I left a mark like I've been sunburned, so now I'm putting vitamin E in nose to see if I can recover the skin and tissues and that the more the freeze are more likely to freeze or get sunburned. And the toes also have chilled me enough but not both, the issue is that the boots I have for the cold but say they are up to 40 degrees below zero, the first is not as good as they should and the second one never said he had to remove the inside to dry between uses because the feet sweat enough moisture accumulates and then freezes faster jijijiji, to tell them that on the second trip we stopped at a cabin that is Debbie (my boss ) and we were near the stove with Raold (Debbie's son) who is always out with me and when remove the inside of the boot was covered in ice much moisture that had jijijiji. Raold were killed with laughter and could not believe that my feet were not fully frozen. The good thing was that we dried in the oven and now are a little better hehehe.

The photos of the bike sled adventures in the winter because I fully there is plenty of light, and 3 weeks ago we do not see the sun directly, and missing another 10 days for the sun slowly start to show their brightness directly above the horizon, so the photo opportunities are limited, but spring will come with many hours of sunshine and plenty of snow to play so they will have their photos to their due course, by now with what's confórmense jjijijij.

Video of my bike riding a sled, but in the absence of light is more of an audio ....

ICE SKATING

After more than two years in Canada someone finally fulfilled their civic duty and took me to a skating rink, and even better because here in Inuvik is free !!!!. The funny thing is that all who learn to skate I do not know me always say I'm going to go and I'm going to teach but until recently had only been stories .... But now I'm almost a professional jijiji, better I am not very enlarged but at least I've improved a lot.

The first day was the funniest, not only by the blows that were not few, but because at the time that is free is when all children leave school and also give you free skate is a lot People skiing. And as expected I was the attraction of the day. Gurises poor could not understand how big a person could not skate, because I had grabbed a device that is as a walker to help you learn, but only children use, because Canadians learn to ski before walking, then many large never skate again, but it's like riding a bike never forget.

So I spend all the time you open the door, surrounded by Gurises harass me any more evil questions and I wanted to steal the walker. The second day, even with my walker, but with more confidence, could move with some speed but the braking and cost a lot but still double what had changed was the astonishment of the Gurises about my person, many have no idea where I am, or in other countries there is no snow or ice 8 months a year, but as I walked more confident we played tag, but I was the most wanted and then could not spot anyone jijijiji was fun.

The little girls could not believe it, an adult using the walker

Day in the ice

But the best part was that during the winter holidays are here during the holidays when we went to skate, we find that there was not a single child in the door, so we had the track just for us and we killed the laughter clowning around, well the Gurises were killed with laughter because I had abandoned my walker , went against the boards, well slowly trying not to break any bones. Because when you fall instead of snow, ice is very hard, I have all bruised left elbow and I appreciate the fact of being Latino and having a good ass because it helps absorb the impact jjijijij.

SLIDES SLIDES IN

Another of the many activities in the Arctic, although common in Canada, or where a little snow and a slope is sliding in slides, but slides are not a playground, are basically pieces of plastic in different ways in which you sit or kneel and you jump in a snowy slope trying to maintain a constant direction and not kill in the attempt to reach the final jijiji.

The thing is going down fast and the bigger the slope better, but then you have to walk up the steep slope that jjijijij tired.

Fortunately, many of us and always enjoyed this activity becomes fun, by the blows and blows and for different techniques we use to go down, the most common being seated, but some are braver back, also happens to go back against their will, or head or knees and has even been attempts to go unemployed, they never get very away. Also accidents while some have been painful are fun. And this activity presents a great opportunity to relieve any kind of violence we feel toward another person because even without trying to hit it a kick in the face of Asian Cat in one of the many downs that we did together jijiji. She actually hit my boot to his face after a short break in which she went flying and landed in front of the slide which continued its course at high speed and then me and I shot my leg moved and hit him in the face but were no marks or blood came out so it was not so serious jjijijij.

FOOD

An activity which I never tire coupled to make meals, opportunities abound to us because many people do not do much at night because it is so cold, they have no idea what they're missing, so every few days are an excuse to get together in someone's house and eating food either rain or someone wants to show their culinary skills.

Much to tell about a meal there as it would be very wicked of me to describe everything we've eaten well be very long for the blog, but I upload a few photos ate sushi once to see what they're missing and also a very funny video of another meal we had in the latest evolution Sachi, knows how to make noise Mario Bros with his nose and had to volunteer doing Pinette show the jump. Believe it or not, we spend half an hour trying to learn how to make noise and laughing and most were sober jijiji

SKIRUN CROSS COUNTRY

And the last activity that I will put in this article I learned to ski cross country.

Although I had already tried my luck skiing down several times, both in Canada and New Zealand. This new style is very different. Nomas entry boots are different because they only reach your ankles do not like going downhill half of the tap. And the only cross-country skis attach to the front.

The idea is to move is to push yourself with a ski and glide to the other and so on to make progress. It is very difficult to say but I will not deny that there were several blows and still are but they are becoming less and mostly when I try to go faster that my legs can move. I also note that the first 2 days to try skiing, I did not put the seedlings in the boots and it made me fell much more than normal. But as soon as I realized that my legs were crooked playing against me, much better, but neither is it so good.

Pinette and Louise after a night of skiing

But I really really enjoy, and despite the intense cold with high physical activity that involves cross-country skiing, the truth does not really cold.

So far it has been cooler than when we were skiing was 38 degrees below zero, but despite being covered with ice as you will see in the pictures, we do not cold, the secret is not to stop moving jijijijij.

Well excuse the delay and I'm going to put to work in the following article on the holidays and the first weeks of the year because I discovered a new activity to pass over time and now I have the weekends free so I have more time to explore the Arctic.

Thanks for reading
